Vidya Sinha became an overnight star with Basu Chatterjee's low-budget but landmark film "Ragniganda" (1974), where her realistic acting, and simple good looks were a sharp contrast to the loud, garish-looking and violent Bollywood films of the 1970's.After starring in Basu Chatterjee's hit comedy "Choti Si Baat" (1976) alongside co-star Amol Palekar, she was approached by the legendary Raj Kapoor for "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" (1976), but she turned it down because of the body exposure involved, and the role went to Zeenat Aman, who had no problem exhibiting her scantily clad body.On why she left acting for a long time: "I did not want my daughter Jhanvi to be brought up by servants and I did not hire any servants. I brought her up singlehandedly as I did not want to miss out on her upbringing."Her shock over nudity in Hindi films: "In our times we too had romantic scenes but they were dealt with with a lot of sensitivity, but some of today's films are so bold that they can't be seen with our family and kids."Her personal favorite films are "Choti Si Baat" (1976) and B.R.
